The Budapest Business School was founded in January 2000, when three formerly independent colleges, the  
• College of Commerce, Catering and Tourism,
• College of International Management and Business Studies, and
• College of Finance and Accountancy (CFA)
 merged to form a leading business school in Budapest. With about 20 000 students, BBS has become one of the largest institutes of higher education in Hungary.
The CFA itself was established in 1962 and has now about 7900 students   about 4700 undergraduates in full-time programs, 1500 undergraduates in distance learning, 1400 students in higher vocational training, and 300 students in various postgraduate studies.
Besides playing a decisive role in the system of national higher education, the CFA has established connections with foreign universities, colleges and professional bodies in various countries   including Great Britain, France, Germany and the United States. The school also participates in different international educational programs and organisations, such as Erasmus, Leonardo, EDEN, and Eurashe.
The CFA operates with a well-organized and effective team of about 100 professors, lecturers and a sizable support staff to help them and the students.
The CFA offers various programs in higher vocational training, three BSc programs to full-time students and distance learners, post-graduate programs and specific training courses in auditing, certified accountancy, tax and financial consultancy.
